The RANGER Survey System is a wireless drill hole surveying system developed to make drill hole surveying simpler and less time consuming for the operator. Communicating through an infrared data link the system is operated from the Ranger Survey Controller (RSC). The RSC sets the tool in operation and when surveys are completed, downloads and displays the survey data.
With the Driller/Operator in mind, the RANGER Survey System provides a user friendly approach to drill hole surveying. The RSC touch screen/stylus operation allows detailed information to be inserted for survey header information with the stylus and large touch screen buttons to operate the system when surveying the job.
Measurements for Azimuth, Inclination, Temperature, Roll Angle (Gravity and Magnetic), plus Magnetic Intensity, Magnetic Dip and Gravity Intensity (for quality assurance) are all available from the RANGER Survey Instrument. Operational information including hole number, depth of survey, time, date, and dogleg severity are also processed in the RSC where the survey data can be viewed on easily accessed screens.
To operate the RANGER Survey System, simply synchronize the RSC and instrument timers, assemble into protective RANGER Survey Running Gear, and lower system into drill hole. When ready to conduct survey, setup survey header information eg; Hole Number, Location, Surveyor, Depth Of Survey, etc in RSC and commence surveying.

When survey completed retrieve system from drill hole and resynchronize RSC and instrument. Immediate communications are established and data downloaded from the instrument and processed in the RSC. Finally enter the Data Base section of the RSC and view the survey data.
With infrared (IrDa) communications an integral part of the system, survey data can be printed using a suitable IrDa linked printer, transferred to a personal computer via the RSC Cradle, or emailed via an IrDa compatible cellular mobile phone.
The RSC also has many standard features including Microsoft Windows CE Pocket Computer applications.
Suitable for many underground and surface magnetic drill hole surveying applications, the system is capable of Single or Multi Shot surveying operations, plus orientation of down hole motors, directional core barrels and deviation wedges.
