36mm QT Survey Barrel
The 36mm QT Survey Barrel is suitable for BQ Wireline operations with a maximum O.D. of 36mm to pass through the BQ Wireline Bit. The barrel threads screw together quickly but still give strength to the joints. A double O-ring seal protects the instrument from ingress of drilling fluid. A safety collar built into the Top Sub Instrument Hanger prevents the instrument from being accidentally dropped while assembling the barrel.

38mm QT Survey Barrel Kit
The 38mm QT Survey Barrel is a heavy duty version with an O.D. of 38mm and a heavy-duty quick-action thread. With the Bottom Sub Shock Assembly, the 38mm QT Survey Barrel is suitable for all types of drill holes from NQ Wireline upwards. It may also be used for surveying 48mm conventionally drilled holes (e.g. LTK 46, JKT48 and other open A or B size holes). A triple O-ring seal protects the instrument from ingress of drilling fluid. A safety collar built into the Top Sub Instrument Hanger prevents the instrument from being accidentally dropped while assembling the barrel.

45mm Diameter Survey Barrel System
For use in conventional drilling operations with 48mm OD size Hole (e.g. LTK48).
The 45mm Survey System centralises the Single or Multishot Survey tool in the hole, giving a true indication of the hole direction. In addition the system protects the tool from vibration encountered when tripping the system in and out of the drill hole on the rod string to conduct the survey. A double O-ring seal protects the instrument from ingress of drilling fluid. A safety collar built into the Top Sub Instrument Hanger prevents the instrument from being accidentally dropped while assembling the barrel. The Top Sub and Spacer bar joints incorporate a wear ring indicator serving as an indicator when the system begins to wear and a recommended position for pipe and Barrel Wrenches.
45mm Conventional Survey Barrel and Spacer Bar Assy comprises:
- 3 x 45mm Aluminium Spacer Bar 1.5 metre with AW Threads
- 1 x 45mm Top Sub Assy with AW Thread
- 1 x 45mm Brass Barrel (Reversible)
- 1 x 45mm Bottom Sub Assy
57mm Diameter Survey Barrel System
For use in conventional drilling operations with 60mm OD size Hole (e.g. LTK60)
The 57mm Survey System centralises the Single or Multishot Survey tool in the hole, giving a true indication of the hole direction.
Standard BQ Outer Tube/NQ 2 Inner Tube Wrenches are recommended for breaking the Barrel and top sub joint.
57mm Conventional Survey Barrel and Spacer Bar Assy comprises:
- 3 x 57mm Brass Spacer Bar 1.5 metre
- 1 x 57mm Top Sub Assy
- 1 x 57mm Brass Barrel Assy (Reversible)
- 1 x 57mm Bottom Sub Assy
54mm (2 1/8") High Temperature Bore Hole Survey System
The High Temperature Bore Hole Survey System which encases an "R" (31.7mm OD) Size Survey Tool is specially designed to conduct bore hole surveys or orientation in bore holes with abnormally high temperatures which normally could not be obtained using standard equipment.
The "R" Size Survey Tool inside the Heat Shield will operate in up to 400° F(205°C) temperatures.
System comprises:
- "R" Size (1 ¼" O.D.) Survey Tool
- "R" Size Heat Shield Assembly
- 2 1/8" (54mm) O.D. High Temp. Barrel Assembly
- 45mm x 3 metre Aluminium Spacer Bar
- Landing Collar with Shock Assembly
Care and Maintenance of Drillhole Survey Running Gear
Regular preventative maintenance and servicing is your best insurance against any failure.
- Inspect and check O-rings on Top Sub Assembly and Bottom Sub. Replace if necessary.
- Clean all threads on Top Sub Assembly, Bottom Sub, and Barrel with wire brush and degreasing agent.
- Clean the internal diameter of the barrel.
- Regrease all threads after cleaning.
- Clean barrel exterior and pack into carrying case.
- Instal barrel plugs to protect threads from accidental damage.
Some Helpful Hints
- Only use minimal amounts of a Petroleum Jelly or O-ring Grease on O-rings and threads.
- Do not use Pipe Wrenches on the Brass Barrel. Approved Barrel Wrenches are available; these provide full support to the circumference of the barrel.
- You may tighten Barrels by hand. The O-rings have a retaining action, in addition to sealing the Barrel from ingress of drilling fluid. Always check O-ring condition.
- Use correct Barrel size to suit your drilling conditions. If you have any doubts, Contact Us
